So we got a new boat...had to move my car over a bit today to make room in the garage. I put front suspension back together and put the tires on and as I was pushing the car back it tapped the corner of the welding table right on the back/middle of the trunk. It put a small dent in it. The dent isn't big at all but it's a quot;sharpquot; dent if you know what I mean. The paint isn't damaged. Im just wanting to know how much a body shop will charge me to pull it out or fix the problem. Any insight anyone can give me would be appreciated.
Is it creased at all?? is it on a body line?
Yeah that's what I meant by sharp...it has a crease in the middle. But its not on a body line its right on the back part of the trunk where the keyhole is a little to the left.
I'll get a pic tomorrow ...so disgusted right now...we don't even need a damn boat we already have one!!
LMAO i have a scratch like that on my car.. and i hate it but shit happens

I'll take the boat and fix your dent. Win win ?
Too bad no one on here lives close and does body work. Sure I could work out a deal with someone.
Think positive. No paint damage is a good thing. Could have been worse.......... Post up pics of the dent tomorrow and maybe someone can help. Check to see if there are any mobile dent removal services near you that could come to you. They should be able to give you an idea on how much it will be.
The dent has a crease in the middle...it hit the corner of an all steel welding table ever so slightly...can dents like that be pulled out?
No mobile dent service even remotely close to me....Ahh horseshit!
Haaaaaaa. Time for carbon fiber or fiberglass
is there access to the dent from the back?
if so there's a chance you could try and get it out yourself, but I have to warn you the probability that it'll go horridly wrong is pretty great. honestly with dents like that you're almost better off getting it filled and painted than trying to fix the metal. or just live it it.
you COULD try the old heat and cold trick... warm it up with a hair dryer or heat gun (on LOW setting!!!!) then either quench it with a rag dunked in ice water or hit it with a can of compressed air upside down. search youtube for dent removal vids. it might not totally eliminate the crease mark but it might take enough of the quot;hurtquot; out of it that it doesn't bother you as much.
and trust me... I feel your pain. i had to push my car out of the garage and forgot I'd left the GENERATOR behind it. there's a nice dark scratch mark on the bumper now.
Yeah I felt sick to my stomach for a bit...
oh... that one I know as well too. try this one...
it was near a christmas, the whole family was coming over and I had some time to kill (and needed something to stay out of mom's hair and kitchen while she cooked for the entire Romanian army ) so I went out in the garage and did some reassembly work on the FRESHLY PAINTED MGB I was restoring for her. now, notice the part I bolded. Yea... you know what's coming don't ya. I wasn't being stupid or anything or even moving particularly fast but I picked up the driver's seat and turned around to put it back in the car *THUMP*... OH.... SHIT!!!! the end of the rail clipped the trailer edge of the door and tore a chunk the size of a dime out of the paint. 'sick to my stomach' doesn't even begin to describe it. I'd just damaged a $10,000 paint job on a car that wasn't even 2 months out of the body shop.
