Blucore B-17G - Fiddler's Green Inspired

Here is a taste of what I am working on at the moment, between this and my Ryan P-47 I think my WWII fleet will be ready for this summer.
I took my Fiddler's Green plan to Kinkos and Blew it up so it would still fit on the 36x?? paper.  So far everything but the wing ribs inside the wings are as per the fiddler's plan.  The whole fuse is glued together with polyurethane glue and the wings have a mix of CA and alphaic glue.  There are two spars in the middle of the fuselage that hold the wings on at the correct diahedral.  I have a ways to go but I think the step one hard part is over, which was the win build/install and the motor mount install making sure everything is at the correct angles.  I didn't use a lot of technical measurements for the engine pods, but did line them up using a method I saw on another builders b-17 build.
more pics and updates will follow.
Thanks,
Jer

Looki'n good so far!
But the concrete block as external ordinance  has got to go!
Good luck with it,
Roger aka GIFLYRC

Wow, looks fantastic!  What are you going to use for power?

Not sure on power yet, I think I'll wait till I get a good idea on how much it will weight, then figure it out.  My most limiting factor is prop size so I'll have to take that into account.  I think that 4 direct drive 350's should work but I don't want to say for sure.  I'll be asking for some help when I get some better numbers.
Thanks,
  jer

Very Sharp Jer .. i have been thinking about the 17.. but i am in the middle of a FiddlersGreen B-24 instead .. whats the wingspan??

Not sure - but I'll give you a better figure on numbers tonight.
Jer

that is awesome, can't wait to see more.
Whats its wing span?
Adam

been there done that. I made mine so the 9x7 3 bladed props are scale. it about a 6'6quot; wing span. I found the 350's to be under powered on the 2 cell li pollys. I ended up going with the 400's- quot;equot; gearing and 3 cell lipos. flew nice.

o and i used scoch tape despencers for the turrets. the inner white thig is about the right size and you can spin it freely.
BRyan

Well that was my inspiration.  Mine is not that big, If I ha to guess I would say is about 4' wing span.  I didn't take prop spacing into account before I built the plane, so I'll have to work with what I've got.
Mine also will be a belly lander - no landing gear here.
Jer

Vyceroy - You're working on a Libby and you haven't posted pics????  How could you?  I feel so let down

Shakey i have posted pics .. but im going to redo her from the ground up ..she is the old Version .. i now have the new one and it is definately more scale .. .. heres the link B-24 build

jet jer, nice looking plane, I have to get away from profiles, and build a real plane!

Update with some new pics.
This should answer some of your questions:
Wingspan:  54.25quot;
Wing Area: 390quot; Sq.
Weight:  8.5 oz so far (including all flying surfaces)
Prop clearance:  I think I can swing a 3 blade 6quot; prop, I just need to figure out wich one, Master Airscrew makes a 6x4 electric prop I think.  The only issue I have and I don't know if it will make any difference (I assume it will) is the props will overlap each other by about 1/2quot; in the middle.  Can anyone help there?
Any motor help at this point would be good too - if we know the props are 6x4 3 blade and that my bird will be about 15 oz empty  - I would like to go brushed (so I only need one esc) and would like to run on lipos.
Thanks,
jer

no idea.
i would like to know how you made thows engine cowls look so good thow
