Painting my valve cover..

Bought an 05 valve cover from another forum member to put on my 03. He had it matte black, but I wanna do wrinkle black with red raised letters. In the process of removing the paint now. Here's some progress pics, more to come!

i used rustoleum, but it flaked off after 2 years... so i picked up a power coated cover, that should hold up better

what did u do to remove the paint??

i usually use air craft stripper and it works great

Will that work? Isn't 03 PCV valve different?

Yeah I used air craft paint remover. I've got an 05 pcv valve to put in it. I'm going to use VHT wrinkle engine paint with red engine paint on the lettering so hopefully no flake!

yes the pcv valve is different and the vc was changed to accomadate his but they do not make the 03 style PCV anymore because it is JUNK so you have to switch sooner or later

Exactly. Just took a nice swim about to post some updated pics. Getting ready to prime this bad boy!!

Yes that is cotton balls in the spark plug tubes, oil cap, and PCV holes.


Laid down the red this morning going to let it sit for awhile then chapstick the letters and wrinkle black the whole thing!!!!

Looking good. How come you didn't tape off the nipple on the drivers side?

I used the same paint minus the wrinkle black, I used the low gloss black on my VC. Came out great, Holds up awesome so far.
