has mandrel bent 3quot; aluminum tubes in 45deg bends and 90 deg bends, silicone hump connectors, and 90deg silicone elbows (even reducer elbows for fitment to a stock turbo), and t-bolt clamps.
all in all, with shipping it comes to about $80-90 bucks for everything.
I will fab up a nice sheet aluminum box, like the hahn version and seal it up with weather stripping. My cost $10-20
So about $100 in total
Anybody else every try this?
Ill post pics in the coming weeks when im able to order the parts (fulltime at school amp; no job really sucks sometimes lol)
i dont like it, but everyone can do what they want to do with their rides.
check this one out.
How-To: Stock Airbox 3quot; Intake
I like that setup. Don't like that my AEM goes down and ends up at the TB.

function over form? .....or am I all alone on this one.....?
I'll put the saved $100 in my piggy bank for some motegi track lights if i want some functional bling
Or,
Just keep the stock intake manifold that will suport 350whp.
Then take the $200.00 that you would spend on the intake and purchase a DSP
I like the air box idea, might do that with the injen short ram I have, only cost me $20 for that intake lol, but it does get hot as hell in the summer time. Needed something that would allow my bov to fit though.
And it'll clean up the look of the engine bay covering up all the wiring and vac lines

I like your thinking
Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven#8217;t short ram intakes been shown to produce similar HP gains as CAI's?
If that statement is correct, then a short ram breathing cold air from a box should produce even better HP numbers. less piping and one less 90deg bend.

I have not seen any independent data that proves ANY intake system worth spending the money. My winder project is to make a hollowed out headlight to draw air from outside of the engine bay. Now mind you, this iwll be for track applications only..
For stock turbo, I would not waste my money on a intake of any kind. Just put a drop in K amp; N in the stock air box and call it a day.
Well i just ordered. $75 shipped for all intake parts. use the code quot;link987quot; for 10% off as it just worked for me
I know for a stock turbo the gains will be minimal at best. But thats not my main concern right now. My car is stock turbo and will be for some time..
I ordered all 2.5quot; stuff as my car already has a drop in kamp;n filter with a 2.5quot; opening. later down the road if a larger snail is in order, Ill just get 3quot; piping and open the hole up in the box so it fits.
To be honest guys, I just like making stuff, its half the fun. So even if all this does is add a few HP and change the tone of the intake sound, its money well spent in my book. and it frees up room in the engine bay for other stuff like catch cans and what not.
So for all you naysayers out there, just save it. Because I bet most of you bought an intake for your car before it really needed it!
Tinker away! Be sure to post pics when you're done
That Hahn intake setup is Super Sexy.....I want....
Zachs post up some pics when yours get done, I might have to get creative also

$75 is no crying matter
a dsp, wga, and 3 bar stuff is gonna be had as soon as i have enough for all of it at once. At my college kid income rate, thats gonna be hard until summer hits and i get a full time job.

Then don't waste the $75.00 on stuff where you will see no significant improvement.

I don't think it really made a difference at all, but I paid $20 for it and needed something that would fit so I'm happy lol
and the turbo sounds nice through it |
