Slight Boost Leak from MPX TB?
Has anyone figured out how to fix the slight boost leak from aftermarket turbos. I seem to have a slight boost leak on my MPX Throttle Body. It seems to be around the IAC valve the TPS and then where the gasket would go for the spacer to TB. Is this possibly causing slower spool? Any suggestions?
funny you should mention a slight leak at the gasket between the spacer and the throttle body. been dealing with mind all day trying to figure out where my leak was coming from and after putting some soapy water on it i found it.
unfortunately now i have a bigger issue. when i tried to tighten down on the throttle body i stripped the manifold threads. now it really has a leak.....not to threadjack, but what is everyones opinion on the best fix for the stripped threads? also how has everyone been able to fix this minor leak?

how bad is the leak???? and did you replace all gaskets and o rings to make sure u didnt have a leak and also be sure to check the actual throttle body gasket some wrinkle up and such

Re-tap the hole. If you stripped out too much meat for the screw to grab then use Heli-Coil
Thanks North. We are going the helicoil route. picked up a helicoil kit this morning.
would it be wise to use some rtv in place of the paper gasket between the throttle body and the spacer?
Thats a good question but id say not correct me if im wrong im taking a swing at this but being as the air is forced in and the silicone is a rubber like based sealer and it wouldnt hold up to the quot;forced airquot; and the harder smashed tb gasket wuld provide a better seal now idk about both of them...
Maybe I will pick up some new gaskets then and replace them all... I got the TB and Mani already bolted together from another member. Also is it common for the rpms to hang on occasion when you install a new TB?
well i put the helicoil in (worked fine), took out the paper gasket and used rtv on both the spacer and the throttle body. we shall see how it holds up. after initial test drive (only boosted to 22lbs) so far so good. i will update it anything changes.
Also do your rpms hang at idle from time to time? It has been doing this ever since I installed the new TB
it used to, but i did the TPS rewire (couple months ago) and it took care of that issue. with the leak at the throttle body this time it reappeared. on my test drive this afternoon all seemed normal again. crossing my fingers the rtv holds up and doesn't blow out as suggested above.
