greddy tt problem

I was hooking up a greddy turbo timer in a buddys srt today and it doesn't want to stay on or count down. I used the how to on here for my car and it works fine, but not on his. I even unhooked the main power line (red) and readjusted it to make sure it was getting a better connection and still nothing. The turbo timer will turn, let you set what time you want to let it run, will read volts and all of that, but once you turn the car off, the tt will shut off as well. Any suggestions or answers?
